Workshop: Working Together for Women’s Financial Inclusion

The First Women Bank Limited was awarded a Rs. 27.5 million grant for a Project titled 'Building First Women Bank Limited's Capacity to Empower Home Based Workers (HBWs) and small scale Entrepreneurs (SSEs) to Lead Change'  under the Gender Equity Program (GEP) of Aurat Foundation (AF) by the support of the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  The overall Project objective was to enhance the Financial Inclusion of Women, thus leading to poverty alleviation, access to much-needed finance, increasing the habit of saving, and the provision of other bank services. These asset-based/liability oriented/ risk mitigating and insurance covered financial products will be targeted to women clusters, 17 AF affiliated Universities, beneficiaries of GEP and SME female entrepreneurs.

To orient senior management to the Project, and to enthuse them towards its implementation, a 2-day Workshop, titled ‘Working Together Works – Women’s Financial Inclusion’, was designed and conducted on 9 - 10 August of 2016.

The workshop objectives were:

· To orient the participants so that they may be able to effectively describe the project and articulate its significance for FWBL.

· To have the participants articulate how various Units/Departments will engage with the Project, and express their commitment to the Project and what it means to work as a winning team.
