5-year Strategic Planning

Client: LASOONA

Date: July-August 2017

Mera Maan facilitated LASOONA to develop its next 5-Year Strategic Plan, i.e. for 2017-2021, As part of the Strategic Planning Process, Mera Maan reviewed background documents, visited LASOONA Headoffice in Swat to prepare and guide the team to reflect and consolidate past experiences, and begin to think about PESTEL (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal) and SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) as it applies to the organization and its work. This led LASOONA to undertake a series of iinternal consultations, with field staff and community, where they discussed each element of PESTEL and SWOT. The field staff was given semi structured interview guide, which they used to consult with the community and their counterparts in local Government, so that the field perceptions and voice could be integrated into the strategic planning process.

The Head office staff in Swat undertook desk review, looking at the achievements and challenges faced in the projects and programs undertaken in the past 5 years. Based on the desk and field review, several presentations were developed that would be integrated in the 3-day ‘Strategic Planning and Priority Setting’ Workshop held from August 20-22, 2017 at the Mera Maan Residential Training Center (MMRTC), Islamabad. The Workshop provided LASOONA’s Core Staff and Board of Director (BoD) a platform to frankly discuss past progress, current priorities and future plans within the larger development context. A 3-day Report on ‘Strategic Planning and Priority Setting’ Workshop, which covers the step-by-step process and discussions that ensued in the development of this Plan.
