Training of Trainers for ‘Sparking Economic Empowerment through Information, Communication & Technology (ICT)’
Client: UN WOMEN
Date: November 2018 – December 2018
UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide. It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life. One of the four strategic priorities that it focuses on is that women have income security, decent work and economic autonomy.
Given their respective mandates, the UNWOMEN and USF conceptualized a programme, where the aim was to develop a training of trainers’ programme for 32 selected teachers from WEC and Government Schools and Colleges, where they would be oriented to the concepts of why ICT is considered such an indispensable enabler for the economic and social empowerment of adolescent girls and women, and how it can be used to promote entrepreneurship or work readiness. They would also be given step-by-step guidelines on how they inspire, train and mentor their students to set up businesses using IT tools, and guide other teachers to do the same. The activities performed during this engagement were as follows:
The overall scope of this Consultancy included:
